Negation in the Past Tense: لَمْ / مَا
I was not
➡️
أنا لَمْ أَكُنْ
أَنَا مَا كُنْتُ
I was not late.
لَمْ أَكُنْ مُتَأَخِّرًا.
We weren't
➡️
نَحْنُ لَمْ نَكُنْ
نَحْنُ مَا كُنَّا
We were not ready.
لَمْ نَكُنْ جَاهِزِينَ.
You weren't (masc)
➡️
أَنْتَ لَمْ تَكُنْ
أَنْتَ مَا كُنْتَ
You were not present (masc).
لَمْ تَكُنْ حَاضِرًا.
You weren't (fem)
➡️
أَنْتِ لَمْ تَكُونِي
أَنْتِ مَا كُنْتِ
You were not there (fem).
لَمْ تَكُونِي هُنَاكَ.
You weren't (dual)
➡️
أَنْتُمَا لَمْ تَكُونَا
أَنْتُمَا مَا كُنْتُمَا
You (dual) were not ready.
لَمْ تَكُونَا مُستَعِدَّينِ.
You weren't (plural masc)

You (plural masc) were not polite.
لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤَدَّبِينَ.
